The trio encounters a massive, blind dragon guarding the deepest vaults of Gringotts Wizarding Bank. Griphook explains that the dragon has been trained to retreat in response to pain when it hears the sound of "Clankers," metal instruments designed to manipulate it. Using the Clankers, the group successfully makes the dragon retreat, allowing them to proceed to the vault.
