What is the purpose of this website?
The purpose of this website is to create a comprehensive database that connects of all the events that occur in the Harry Potter books.

How does the website work?
The website is organized into two types of flows:
There are more details about what these flows are below but here is a practical example.
In PS Chapter 5: Diagon Alley when everyone is greeting Harry Dedalus Diggle mentions that he once bowed to him in a shop.
If we click thorugh to Dedalus Diggle's page we can see that he was mentioned two times previously.

Being able to jump from a passage in the book to a timeline of events from the Items perspective is what makes this website valuable.
What is the Book Flow?
The Book Flow allows users to view all the events in the order they are written in the books.
Here’s how it works: Books are divided into Chapters, which contain Events that include Items like Characters, Locations, and more.

What is the Timeline Flow?
The Timeline Flow allows users to view all the events for a specific Item.
There are currently seven kinds of items:

Characters: Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, and Hedwig

Locations: 4 Privet Drive, Diagon Alley, and The Leaky Cauldron

Connections: The Dursleys' Hatred of Magic, Christmas at Hogwarts, and Dumbledore's Plan

Magic: Avada Kedavra, Divination, and The Dark Arts

Things: Gryffindor House, Quidditch, and Potions Class

Groups: The Dursleys, Gryffindor Quidditch Team, and Muggles
What are the features?
The database that powers the website allows for a cool set of features.
Relationships
This is the most powerful feature of the site.
Any two items can be selected and all events that contain them will be displayed.
Search
The search bar is available on every page and is quick and easy way to get to any Item on the site.
Future Ideas
Item Details: Fill in more specific details about Items so they can have their own detailed page.
Date-based Timeline: This will allow for flashbacks to be logged in a timeline form.
