The Ministry wizards find Winky, Barty Crouch Sr.'s house-elf, unconscious in the woods with Harry's missing wand. Amos Diggory accuses Winky of conjuring the Dark Mark, but Harry, Ron, and Hermione explain that the voice they heard was much deeper and could not have belonged to Winky. Crouch takes responsibility for Winky, despite her protests of innocence.
