Buckbeak Attacks Snape as He Flees

As Snape prepares to leave, Buckbeak the hippogriff swoops in, attacking Snape and causing him to stagger back. Harry, still recovering from Snape's hexes, tries to regain his composure and chase after Snape. However, by the time Harry retrieves his wand, Snape has managed to Disapparate beyond the school grounds.
