Dumbledore begins drinking the potion from the basin, knowing it may incapacitate him or cause great pain. He instructs Harry to make sure he finishes the potion, no matter how much he protests. Dumbledore drinks several goblets full before collapsing against the basin in agony, while Harry tries to encourage him to continue.
