Death Eaters Confront Harry and Demand the Prophecy
Lucius Malfoy, along with Bellatrix Lestrange and other Death Eaters, surrounds Harry and his friends in the Department of Mysteries. Lucius demands that Harry hand over the prophecy, but Harry refuses, believing that Sirius Black is being held by the Death Eaters. Bellatrix taunts Harry, mocking him and his friends while Lucius warns that they will use force if Harry does not comply.

Harry and His Friends Refuse to Hand Over the Prophecy

Bellatrix Threatens to Torture Ginny
Bellatrix Lestrange, frustrated by Harry's refusal to hand over the prophecy, steps forward and threatens to torture Ginny Weasley in front of the group. Harry quickly moves to protect Ginny, using the prophecy as leverage, warning that they will have to destroy it if they try to attack. This intensifies the standoff between the Death Eaters and the students.

Harry Discovers the Truth About the Prophecy

Harry and His Friends Smash the Shelves of Prophecies
On Harry's command, he and his friends cast Reducto spells, shattering the shelves and destroying dozens of prophecies. The chaos allows them to make a break for the exit as the Death Eaters are momentarily distracted by the falling glass and the ghostly figures of long-dead Seers released from the shattered prophecies.

The Group Escapes the Room of Prophecies
Harry and his friends manage to escape the collapsing shelves in the Room of Prophecies and seal the door behind them using Hermione's Colloportus spell. However, they are separated from Ron, Ginny, and Luna, who appear to have taken a different path in the confusion. Harry realizes they are still being pursued by the Death Eaters.

Harry, Hermione, and Neville Are Attacked by Death Eaters
Two Death Eaters break into the room where Harry, Hermione, and Neville are hiding. A fierce duel ensues, and although they manage to Stun one Death Eater, the second one hits Hermione with a purple flame curse, knocking her unconscious. Neville's wand is also broken during the battle, leaving him defenseless.

Neville Defends Harry and Hermione Against Dolohov
Neville Longbottom, despite his broken nose and lack of a proper wand, manages to help Harry fight off Antonin Dolohov by jabbing Hermione's wand into Dolohov's eye. Dolohov is eventually Stunned, but not before the damage is done. Harry struggles to protect both Hermione and Neville while trying to figure out how to escape.

Harry, Neville, and Hermione Are Reunited with Ron, Ginny, and Luna
After defeating Dolohov, Harry and Neville regroup with Ron, Ginny, and Luna in the circular room. However, Ron is badly injured and disoriented, while Ginny's ankle is broken. Luna helps support Ginny, and the group attempts to figure out how to escape, all while being pursued by Bellatrix Lestrange and the other Death Eaters.

Death Eaters Attack the Group Again in the Brain Room
The group enters the Brain Room, where Ron, in his disoriented state, accidentally summons one of the floating brains. The brain attacks him, wrapping its tentacles around his arms and chest. Ginny is hit by a Stunning Spell, and Harry and Neville are left to fend off the remaining Death Eaters while trying to save Ron.

Sirius and the Order of the Phoenix Arrive
As the group is cornered by the Death Eaters, members of the Order of the Phoenix, including Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and Nymphadora Tonks, arrive to help. A fierce battle breaks out between the Order and the Death Eaters, giving Harry and his friends a chance to escape.

Sirius Black Is Struck by a Killing Curse
During the duel with Bellatrix Lestrange, Sirius Black is hit by a Killing Curse. The curse sends him flying backward into the veil in the Death Chamber. Harry watches in horror as Sirius disappears through the veil, and Bellatrix screams in triumph. Harry is in disbelief, thinking that Sirius will reemerge from the other side of the veil.
