The Group Flies to London on Thestrals
The group takes flight on the thestrals, soaring into the sky and speeding through the countryside. As they fly over the Hogwarts grounds, Hogsmeade, and various villages, Harry is anxious about how much time has passed since he saw the vision of Sirius Black being tortured. The journey is fast, cold, and silent, with only the lights of Muggle towns far below them to indicate how far they have traveled.

The group exits the lift at the Department of Mysteries, and Harry leads them to the plain black door he has seen in his dreams. After entering the circular room with rotating walls, they quickly realize that the movement of the walls is meant to confuse them about the entrance. Harry presses forward, determined to find the room he saw in his vision, but the rotating walls make navigation difficult.

Harry leads the group into a large stone amphitheater-like room with a raised stone dais in the center, where an ancient archway with a fluttering veil stands. Harry feels a strange pull towards the veil and hears faint whispering voices, though no one else seems to hear them at first. Luna Lovegood eventually admits she can hear the whispers too, but Hermione Granger becomes increasingly nervous and insists they leave the room.
