After dinner, Harry, Ron, and Hermione visit a distraught Hagrid at his hut. Hagrid, who has been drinking heavily, fears he will be fired for Malfoy's injury. The trio reassures him that Malfoy is exaggerating, and they offer to tell Professor Dumbledore the truth about what happened. Hermione firmly takes Hagrid's tankard away and helps him sober up.
