After narrowly escaping the Whomping Willow's attacks, the car malfunctions further, ejecting Harry, Ron, and all their luggage. Hedwig escapes, flying off toward Hogwarts. The car, seemingly acting on its own, drives off into the Forbidden Forest, leaving the boys stranded.
