In a desperate plea, Severus Snape meets with Albus Dumbledore on a hilltop, begging him to protect Lily Evans after hearing the prophecy and realizing that Lord Voldemort has targeted her and her family. Snape, wracked with guilt and fear, is willing to do anything to ensure Lily's safety. Dumbledore harshly condemns Snape's selfishness but agrees to help, provided Snape offers something in return.
