Harry overhears a conversation among Hufflepuff students, led by Ernie Macmillan, who suspect him of being the Heir of Slytherin because he is a Parselmouth. They believe Harry's ability to speak to snakes makes him a Dark wizard. When Harry confronts them, Ernie Macmillan accuses him of attacking Justin Finch-Fletchley and Colin Creevey.
